Carpet bowls winners

Congratulations to the team known as Barking Mad for winning the Carpet Bowls League for 2015. The team comprised Sue Tart, Dickie Barkworth, Stuart Cartwright, Ian Davies, David Harvey and Peter Livingstone.

Over the last two weeks two pack of Cubs have visited Kibworth for an evening of fun/target bowls.

The Mountain Wolves and the Artic Wolves arrived very excited to see what they could do with the challenges laid out on the green.

Each rink was set up with a different challenge testing their ability to find the correct line and length, bowling to a designated area, to aiming for a target,. and was scored accordingly. Each 6 competed as a team and after ten minutes moved on to the next rink for a completely different task. At the end of the 50 minutes the scores were totalled and the winning 6 given a certificate.

It was very loud and very exciting, the boys were wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

A number of measures have been introduced to allow you to visit the Club to play bowls or attend as a spectator. These have been formulated within the guidelines issued by Bowls England in their Back2Bowls recommendations. They are summarised as follows :

* Sanitise your hands on arrival and , ideally, from time to time while you

  are there.

* Throughout your stay you must make every effort to maintain social

* If you want to bowl, even for a roll-up, you must book a rink with Ron

*  Bowling is restricted to 3 rinks

* If you go as a non-playing visitor you must enter your name in the

   Visitors Log.

* The Clubhouse is open for access to toilets etc .

* Bowlers must only handle their own bowls and other equipment. They

must also play in accordance with the procedures displayed on the

   fire-door windows.

* Jacks and pushers must be sanitised on collection and return.

It is possible that , with suitable safety measures in place, drinks will soon be available from the fridge in the kitchen.

Please be diligent for the protection of both yourself and other members.

We hope they will come back next year and bring other members of the scouting family with them.

Runners up were the Revels, who just edged out the Bassetts on shot difference, followed by the Outlaws, Kelly's Heroes and last, but not least, the T's.

Kibworth Bowling Club Hall

Bowls England Coach for Visually Impaired (VI) bowlers, David Stott, visited  Kibworth Bowling Club in August, in response to the club’s request for guidance for their coaching team. A complete novice VI bowler Niall Graham, an international Para-athlete in the GoalBall team, wanted take on his dad, Ian, himself a Scottish international VI bowler.on the bowling green.

Kibworth BC were keen to ‘get it right’ from the outset and David was able to support the club coaches in their work with Niall and any future VI bowlers they might have.

  2018 Bowling Season.

The Kibworth Bowling Club’s outdoor season has come to a close after a very successful year for the club.

In the South Leicestershire Triples League our team won promotion to the 3rd division and for the first time, won the “Partridge Shield” competition comprising teams from all divisions of the league.

In the Harborough League our 3 teams maintained their positions in their respective leagues and the 'A team' overcame all opposition to win The Sam Springer Cup.

Our Midweek and Saturday friendly fixtures continue to attract a broad cross section of Club Members providing an excellent opportunity to try out new skills.

The Club's annual tour this year was a very enjoyable trip to the Holme Lacy Hotel in Herefordshire, where we played 3 matches against local clubs.

Presidents Day on 23 September was the final match of the season after which joint Presidents Robert Lodge and Sue Tart hosted a superb buffet and announced that approximately £540 had been raised for the Presidents' chosen charity, “Prostaid”.

Now that Autumn is with us, club bowling will move indoors to our “Carpet Bowls” evenings to be held at 6pm from Monday 8th October.

The latest jazz lunch is on Monday 16th February, starting at 12:00. Sign up by calling Joy, or enter your name(s)on the club noticeboard.
